Full steam ahead through the Engadin

Railway culture can be experienced close up in the Engadin. There will be special trips between Samedan and Scuol-Tarasp on 26 January and 23 March 2025 with steam locomotive G 4/5 108 and on 22 February and 18 October 2025 with the “Heidi” steam locomotive G 3/4 No. 11. Immerse yourself in the wondrous world of railway history on a steam-train ride. Nostalgia, shiny metal and the smooth running of the mechanical system create a special experience.

What began in 1889 with the opening of the line from Landquart to Klosters, has become a 384-kilometre network set amidst Swiss mountainous terrain. Step into the wonderful world of the steam era and experience a piece of railway history up close. The Engadin in its special colour scheme is already unique – on a steam-train ride, you can enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings twice as much. First class in the belle époque coupé is particularly special. Small extras can be booked in advance, including aperitifs/coffee and pastries, served by the Historic RhB catering team from Club1889 and the Verein Dampffreunde RhB (Rhaetian Railway Steam Friends Association).

All fares are in Swiss francs (CHF) per person Children and young people aged 6 to 15.99 travel free of charge if accompanied by their parents with the SBB Junior travelcard (A ticket is still required. Tickets can be booked as a separate ticket category “Children (aged 6—15.99) with Junior travelcard” above) Including tour guide, bistro car, photo stop (if possible). During the lunch stop in Scuol-Tarasp, an exclusive platform barley soup will be served (not included in the price). Vouchers costing CHF 10.00 are available during the journey.
